Money Matters And The Death of A Friend Hello Yogi’s Summer can be a little quiet for most private yoga teachers and studio numbers usually decrease during this time of year. Since I have lived in Florida and had my own business, this has been my slowest summer. However….there are always good, helpful lessons to learn behind what is taking place in front of you. I take a lot of time off during the year, studying with Shiva Rea and traveling with some clients. The plus to running your own show is you can create your schedule, the down side of that is usually each time I leave town, business may take a little while to return back to the flow it had been in prior to me leaving. If I don’t work or I'm sick, there is no money coming in. I have had a wonderful year full of travels, training and fun but the lesson this summer for me was to be more prepared for when business takes a temporary decline. I was not planning ahead
for these summer months being slow and many clients going away. I have
never been much of a planner but I see now that I am already organizing
for next year and what my plans will be. A few weeks ago, I was having a heart to heart with a knowledgeable Rabbi who happen to usually give me great advice. Can you guess whom I may be speaking about? He also gives great marketing advice. He looked at me and said “Sara, remember that Money is Abundant. Don’t allow yourself to think anything but that. Let this be your Mantra anytime the slightest bit of fear surrounding money shows up in your thoughts. We all like to think we know what is means to be positive and how to manifest what we want and we have the #1 mind map to navigating ourselves to success, love and health. But…sometimes we all need reminders. Change can come suddenly, like a huge tidal wave. There is no dodging it. Embrace what changes are ebbing and flowing but most importantly allow absolute FAITH to be the sweet honey coating your thoughts. Life is so precious and short. Blessings always arrive, sometimes hidden and other times like a lovely kiss on our cheek. Appreciate your family and friends, they become the pillars of your strength. Be daring to take risks and abandon all fear of “I can’t or What if….”. Be of encouragement or service to someone, it may just uplift you more that the person you are giving to. All of my words come to you tonight as a result of me questioning what is important in this moment and how do I express this beyond myself. My brother lost his best friend this week. He was so young. He was just past 30 years old. He was a handsome young man who loved to have fun and enjoyed living the playful side of life. He has a friendly, warm demeanor and was full of vitality and a beautiful spirit. It was a sudden, unexpected and devastating loss. I didn’t know him very well, we grew up on the same island. My last memory of Tyler was about a year ago when I went home for a visit. I went out on the boat with my brother, his wife and Tyler. We bummed around on the ocean on a beautiful west coast summer day. We stopped at a nearby island with a white sandy beach. I remember him commenting on my shell and rock collection I was bringing back on the boat. It was the only time I had spent with him, but is was a special memory. Somehow, it didn’t seem fair that his life has ended. From a distance I reached out to my family with tears of loss and wishing I could be home to give my brother a big hug. Tyler’s life was not very long but he lived it with hard work, lots of play and a passion for wild fun. Deep prayers of healing and love are radiated to his family and friends. Life can end in a second and you may have no idea. It is so important to forgive people, heal your differences and live each day to the fullest. If you could send out a
prayer for Tyler's family and friends, that would be so gracious.
Tyler…may you rest peacefully in God’s loving arms. You will be great
missed but you are forever loved. Book pick of the week. Strongly recommend you meet Sark if you are new to her writings. About a month ago I wrote about a powerful healing I received over the telephone. Her Name is Alana and I invite you to go to her website and contact her if you would like to book a healing. So far I have had two by her and I felt amazing benefits from both of them. She definitely has a strong healing gift and is very connected to spririt. Her website is www.alanalightwellness.com Blessings and love, Om shanti. Sara. Surviving Shiva Last week, I completed Shiva Rea's Pathways of Flow training at Kripalu. It was a grueling training starting at 6:30 in the morning and often ending after 10 at night. There were three hour practices where Shiva led us into the flow and put us through her Mandalas and structured practices. In the afternoon, there were hours of practice teaching and adjustments. Some days, there were additional practices as well. At nights, dripping in sweat, I dropped into sleep totally unable to move. I would call my wife, grunt out a "good night" and pass out. But for all of the sweat and exertion, and the days I prayed for Savasana to come, I had a great time. Shiva is thrilled to have her "Rabbi" attending her teacher training program and keeps an eagle eye on me during the training. Most yoga teachers have an element of shyness near Shiva but that's never been one of my limitations. We have a great friendship and she knows how to get me to the next level. On the last day, she encouraged me to learn how to go to my edge in my practice. In October, I complete my 200 teacher training program with Shiva. But don't worry about the competition. I'll try not to hog all the clients. Om Shanti Shalommmm,
