The goal of a newspaper ad is to get people to pick up the phone and call you or come in to your studio.
Do not advertise in advance UNLESS you are having a grand opening.
Every dollar you spend on advertising must bring a response.
I hear an echo of Harlan in my ear - each ad has to be tracked so you know what works.
If you are opening a studio in June, don't bother advertising any earlier than the week before announcing a grand opening celebration.
You need to preserve your money for marketing and make every dollar count.
Start thinking about which newspapers you want to target and why!
Start talking about rates now with the newspapers and Harlan says newspaper advertising people don't believe in the niyamas. Everything
they quote is inflated and should be the beginning of your discussion not
the end.
Substitute "car dealer" for "newspaper" and you'll get Harlan's point.
Hope this helps.
Shanti.
