Default Feedback on Vic's Ad

Here is an ad for Craigslist submitted by Vic:

Tired of those uptight, expensive yoga classes? Come to "Yoga for Everyone, Yoga with Vicky". I have a private yoga studio in my home with a maximum of 10 students per class. I love beginners & those returning to yoga after many years (Did you do it in the 70's & 80's?) You don't have to be flexible, just motivated. 10 week package special 10 classes for $100.00. Bring a friend & share the fun.Contact me for schedule ~ day & nights: luckyvic@comcast.net

Okay. First, thanks for submitting your ad. But let's look at it.

#1. There are no benefits in this ad. Not a single one. Why would someone want to hire you? What will they get out of doing yoga?

#2. Your ad appeals only to someone who knows what yoga is or
is returning to yoga. The majority of people have no clue what yoga
is. They assume it's some Indian thing where they have to turn into
a pretzel. You must remove these fears.

#3. This may come as a shock to many people but cheap is not a benefit.
Sara is not the cheapest yoga teacher in Boca Raton. In fact, she may be one of the most expensive. Price is a mindset issue that Sara will deal with in another post.

#4. Do not put prices in your ad. You let people make a decision up front instead of picking up the phone and calling you. Again, Sara will address what to say to people on the phone.

#5. Do you have testimonials from happy clients? Share them! If you don't have them - ask for them.

I would not expect this ad to perform well for you. There is no reason for someone to pick up the phone or email you.

You are trying to sell a package. I suggest you try and convince people to try yoga first.

No one wants to be sold but everyone wants certain benefits you can deliver.

I hope these suggestions help. I'd love to look at another version.

Namaste!

Harlan

Default Suggestions for Craig's List

Harlan, can you provide an example of a postive Craig's List ad?

Actually, we are working on something like that. We'll get back to you with that in a few weeks.
