Cool What's in a name?

Hi Sara and Harlan,

I am a registered dietitian, certified yoga instructor and reiki practitioner building a small business in New York City Financial District. It will include Private Yoga lessons, Nutrition Counseling/Supermarket tours, and Reiki sessions. However, I can't figure out the best way to name the business. i am confused: what is the best way to direct google traffic to the website? Is the URL and company name both important or one holds more weight when it comes to organic google search results (this is without paying for googleAds). For example, should I name the company something simple and straight forward like (Nutrition Yoga Company and use a URL: NYCinNYC.com). Or use a company name like BalanceNYClife and URL BalanceNYClife.com hoping the text in my website (words such as yoga, nutrition etc) will catch the search engine target words. what is the best way to select these two names? I want to market my company but am stuck figuring this out.

Hi, first thing to say is that in an ultra competitive market such as NYC, your chances for organic placement for any of the terms that really matter is really slim.

Right now, they are slimmer than my chances of getting into side crow but that's another story.

That being said, your URL is an important message. And the urls you have suggested convey no benefits or explanations.

They contain no reason for anyone to select your name.

The domains I select are uniformly benefit driven.

BalanceNYClife doesn't mean anything except to you.

I would go with pay per click to a domain name that conveys benefits.

Good luck.

Harlan
