Firstly, I have to thank Harlan for his support and encouragement with developing my website.

Recently I went a step further and continued to refine the copy and general appearance of the site. Another thing that I concentrated on was search engine optimisation. I tightened up my meta tags, I registered with as many directories and search engines as possible.

Now I often appear on the first page of a google search and as I offer private classes this is very important to me.

BUT the big news is...
and this is the way I have generated many new inquiries at this time of year is in the creation of a flyer.

Luckily I had a graphic designer staying with me and together we designed a two sided- two colour leaflet that can be left in many different venues within my community.

I have spent 15 dollars to photocopy 600 flyers. There are 3 flyers to one sheet of A4 paper.

I now realise the power of the printed word... If ever I am in a similar situation again I will find the money to pay someone to create a professional flyer. If I had had to pay my friend for his services, it would already have paid for itself with just one new student.

I think the website and flyer work hand in hand, the flyer leads people to my website and then an inquiry comes.

After 2 years of trying very hard to improve my situation, this is the way that works. I had made flyers myself before and didn't hear a whisper from them. It is the professional appearance that matters. Using a designer is an investment into the business and as I said it pays dividends immediately.
