I've read the forums and have tried to apply all that I've read. So here is the website I want to link to from craigslist ads:

I also have a general website, that is intended for my existing (class based) students or anyone looking for classes. This one still needs more pictures on the homepage:

Now I still want to do a separate page for the corporate classes I hope to start teaching..... Always a work in progress.

I thought Sara was going to faint...

She was watching me go through this site waiting for the comments.

But I kept saying....

Really nice.

I really like the conversational tone.

I really like the clear explanation of benefits.

I really like the pictures and the layout.

I really like the pictures show normal people and not people poured into tight yoga clothing. This would scare people away.

I really like the flow of the page.

I really like the call to action at the end of the page.

Here's what still could be improved upon...

Your site needs a headline.

Put your email opt-in on the first page. Don't make people work for it.
How easy to we make it for people to opt in?

believe me if I told you what people pay me for a consultation so
we'll just leave that out.]

Redoing my website was a lot of work, but I am glad it was worth the effort I put in! And I am glad I traded my graphic designer friend yoga classes for doing the layout and taking the pictures. I knew I could waste hours on that and it would still look amateurish.

I am still reeling with the shock of getting actual praise and getting a free phone consultation . I'll have to think a bit about what I info need from you exactly, but I'll be in touch soon.

Hi Harlan,

Seeing your very positive feedback on Marlene's website, I have borrowed some of the ideas for the homepage design, and even some of the wording, from Marlene and have redesigned my own website Integral Yoga Studio. I would love to get your comments. I must mention that traffic (if you can call it that) has gone up from less than five hits per week to over fifteen hits per week!

A few small points.

The x you chose as the bullet point should be changed. In the US people will think you are denying the points you are making.

Use a check mark.

Second, on your links page, have your links open in a new window.

Never, ever take someone away from your site.

(Of course, I would take all of the sanskrit off your home page but what do I know. I'm just the marketing guy... )

I would appreciate it if people would ask me whether they can use parts of the text on my website on theirs. Chances are good that I'll say yes, if you don't live too close to me. But I've put a lot of time and effort in writing that text and I would like to have the final say before anyone copies and pastes without asking permission. Harlan, I am sorry but I had to remove the link to my website from my original post. It is being copied by too many people, without permission. I worked very hard to make that website and to make it reflect my personality. Now it seems I have sprouted clones all over the place. Who knew it would be so hard for some people to find their own voice.

One person from this forum has even gone so far as to not only copy my text (like many other people have done, you know who you are), but he also copied the design, the colors and even has a picture of me and one of my clients up on his homepage! I have e-mailed this person about this, but he is not responding.

I love this forum and I wish we could all learn from each other with integrity, but apparently some of us have not studied the Yamas, Asteya in particular.

I don't want more clones out there, so I have removed the link for now. Too little, too late, but I don't know what else to do. If you have any suggestions I'd love to hear them.

We've never posted Sara's website but it has been plagiarized again and again.

One person even listed me as one of his clients on his site.

Sara has seen this from the beginning.

It gets her upset because her site was written with her in mind.

Wait until she gets my bill.
