Default web site

hi harlan,

thanks so much for your offer to review my website

its at www.kripaluyogaistanbul.com

I have made craigslist ads too, but there is a problem with the line spacing which I havent had time to fix yet. The site alone will not alow me to edit it properly.

look forward to your feedback

warmest wishes
beth

Hi,
When I first started doing my craiglists ads, I put in <br> (for line feed, or line break) to make sure I got a line break in my add, and then I put in a <p> to get an empty line between paragraphs.

Plus using <b> for bold lettering (with ending with </b> to end the boldness).

Hi Beth,

In this week's newsletter I talk about things I want to
see on a site and things I don't want to see on a site.

Beth, you live in Moslem country. Moslems are highly
offended by statues of Hindu deities.

Out of respect for local considerations, I would remove
such imagery from your site.

Second, the headline and your entire first page does not offer
even a single benefit.

Live happier is far too nebulous for anyone to be interested.

Third, outside of the yoga community, people have no clue
what Kripalu yoga is. I've even been to Kripalu and haven't
a clue.

Spend more time on the benefits of yoga and show pictures
of yourself in gentle yoga poses.

How are you getting traffic to your website?

Peace.

Harlan

Default kripaluyogaistanbul

hi harlan,

thanks for you comments, really appreciated.

Though I must clarify that I live in a Secular country and that Shiva as a symbol isn't going to offend anyone interested in yoga classes. There is a ready acceptance of foreign icons here including starbucks and macdonalds and more on every street corner. My target group is English speakers, foreign or national.

I do get traffic from search engines and via craigs list, though I don't know how to monitor this. If you have any suggestions I'd welcome them.

Actually I'm trying to change the pages around, so that the first page actually comes later and the getting started page is the first, but I do get bogged down by technology. This is a go daddy site and I haven't yet discovered how to do this.

Phew thanks Gailee, that saves me a real headache, can fix that in no time.

thanks
beth

Thanks!
My daughter is a marketing major, and she told me at her internship job, that they use "google analytics".

With Google Analytics you canset up this javascript code inside of your html pages.

This will help you to track from where people come into your site.

How long they stay on each page.

You can "set goals" and see how many times your "goals" are met.

I've set up one of my "goals" to be whenever someone clicks on my
Teaching Schedule and Services - Gail Pickens-Barger, RYT - Yoga With Gaileee then I have that set on my craigslist ad, and I can see where they come from, how long that they have visited...that type of thing. On my Sched.html page, is a map on how to get to the place where I teach a specific type of yoga class, and then it also lists the rest of my yoga teaching schedule. (This particular click from a craigslist ad, will tell me that this clicking came from a craigslist ad, and specifically which one!)

GA, will also let you see what keywords people are typing in, and what search engines are being used (google of course, and lots of yahoo, aol.)

I had been using another type of tracking system with my webpage/domain, but this is a lot better that what my webpage/domain people offer.

For example, if you type on the above link that I've listed, I'll be able to see that the person came from the buildyouryogabusiness website, and how long you stayed, and if you visited any other pages, while you were here.

Hope that helps!
Gaileee, RYT

Google Analytics in definately something people should
look into if they are advanced and can edit their own
pages.

Otherwise...it will overwhelm you.

Peace.

Harlan

PS. I stand corrected regarding Turkey but I still feel icons and deities
don't belong on most websites - particularly those targeting beginners.
