I got Myles, my weightloss client, to write me a testimonial and built a craigslist Ad around it. I'd love to hear your comments:

Wow, I'm impressed, can I sign up from long distance? And I'm a yoga teacher too!
I have a question based on your previous ad. How does a yoga teacher advise about what to eat? The portion control, the eating more often, that type of thing? Do you get questions as to, how are you qualified to give out that type of advise? As yoga teachers are advertising their yoga as a weight loss product (that is, what we are doing eh?), how do we support what we are saying? I know from going to Weight Watchers this stuff, and as I was gestastional diabetic, the things about watching the carbs, eating small meals, eating more often, taking blood sugars, etc and the value of exercising to get the sugars down. Is that enough to qualify as a advisor of what one should eat? Those are the things that pop into my mind, as I do read these craigslist ads that are geared toward the weight loss yoga effort. For example, Sara, what would qualify you to suggest eating differently? gaileee, ....food for thought....

I don't tell people what to eat, I am not a nutritionist. Also, I think that if you tell people to not eat this or not eat that, they are going to feel deprived and eventually they'll overindulge themselves.
I use a book called 'outsmarting the female fat cell' (sorry, Myles) that outlines common sense strategies such as to stop dieting, start moving, eat smaller meals, eat more often, don't eat at night and find healthier alternatives. On this program, if you really, really want cheetos, you eat cheetos, as long as you eat them when you're hungry and stop eating them when you're not hungry anymore (which is different than full). Besides that, I try to get my clients more aware of what is going on in their body. I want them to learn to feel what hungry feels like, what comfortable feels like and what full feels like. Also, I want them to listen to what their body wants to eat. If the body is craving meat, but you decide to have 3 donuts because you work right next to the donut shop, you won't be satisfied and you'll find yourself heading out for a hamburger an hour later. And I stress the importance of stress relief for hormonal balance to stop the cravings. Through Yoga, of course, but I also encourage them to find more activities to calm them down. Whether it is motor cycle rides or hot baths. That is what I do. I'd love to hear from others what they do! |

Taking Off the Pounds in NOT appealing. Melting Away the Fat is. The Pounds Are Vanishing on a Benicia Man The Secret A Benicia Man Used To Melt Away The Pounds The subject line is the most important part of the ad. For example, the Ad in the September newsletter is really hot. The subject line forces you to open the ad. I tested it for Sara and within minutes of the ad posting, her phone was already ringing. Gotta love that kind of response. Peace. Harlan
