I cannot tell you how much I appreciate all of you (especially Harlan and Sara) for all that you share. This is one of the few communities where I feel we are all here to support and assist each other with no other motive than to see each other become happy and successful.
With that said, I would like to share some of my thoughts today as I'm revamping my approach to teaching yoga, and ultimately, my approach to life at this present moment. 1. Ask yourself (and be very honest!) if your current business and marketing methods agree with the principles of yoga. Greed, desire, and deception will not bring good results. 2. Keep it simple. (For me this means sticking to marketing by referrals, web site and craigslist.) Give it time. Trust in the process. Don't quit. 3. Believe that there is plenty for everyone (abundance), and have faith that you will receive exactly what you need (Law of Attraction). 4. Be as good to yourself as you are to your clients. Truly cultivate your own compassion, gratitude and joy. When the light radiates from you, it draws the right kind of friends, lovers, business partners and clients. 5. Really listen to people, find the need, and clarify your niche. Don't be afraid that if you are not all things to everyone that you won't get enough business. Narrow it down, believe in it, and be very selective about who and what you let touch it. 6. Don't take it personally. If someone says no, a prospect doesn't call back or a client doesn't return, it is helpful to think about why this may have happend... but do not let it become in your mind a judgement of YOU. 7. Try to let go of the results. I know tthat in business we want to analyze the success of an ad or web site, and we have lots of numbers for all of that... but try not to feel personally responsible for making something happen. I know that some of this may sound counter-intuitive in the business world, but I truly believe that these principles are applicable. I welcome any feedback on anything that I have said here. namaste... Peg |

I also believe in the Law of Attraction; it works in positive as well as negative ways. It's been very empowering to me to use this Law to attract what I DO want in life.
Concerning our motivation for teaching yoga as a career, it is a very diversified field and there are soooo many segments of the population that can experience wonderful benefits and joy from practicing yoga. I don't know of anyone who decided on yoga teaching as a career path with selfish motivation behind it. We all were yoga students once and we felt the power of it, and that's why we want to "spread the magic." I'm assuming some of you feel this way, anyway. Peg is also right when she says that what we give out, we also attract--radiance, compassion, love. Don't "outline the outcome," but rather, believe in what you do, do it for the RIGHT reason (only you know what that is), continue to grow your yoga business using ethical, honest means, and believe in yourself. What wonderful posts you ladies have made. It is so great to hear other
people who are attracting what they want and living their life with a positive vibration. The more we can spread the word and share our own experiences, the greater other's who may not be in that same space are able to benefit. I have been observing my husband in the past few weeks following through on exactly what you ladies have shared here. He is fairly new to the Boca Raton, Florida area and comes from Toronto where he got constant yoga teaching jobs and had begun to build up his privare clients just before leaving. When he arrived here it was a whole new playing field. In Toronto his way of marketing himself was his outgoing, happy and positive personality and his way with people. I encouraged him to think sky's the limit since he has been here and to continue to think big and go beyond the box. I reasurrred him that when I first moved here, I met certain people who helped me and pointed me in the right direction, and then clients and classes began to fall into place. I continued to visualize what I wanted and where I wanted to be. From the start I had a ripe, fresh attitude and continuied to say "YES" to all that came my way and remained positive. I watch Josiah network with people where ever we go, (after assisting a yoga class, at a superbowl party, in the grocery store and with people I introduce him to.) Does it work? You Bet it Does!!! In very little time he is now in the flow of teaching at different studios, creating his own unique edge, and attracting private clients. He has not even hit craigslist yet or re-done his website. Imagine the business when has time to get that in order too. His spirit and attitude are amazing. People are constantly commenting on his great vibe and they want that in their studio's or they want some of his energy on a private level. Visualization and intent to manifest all that you want really does work. Some days you may get discouraged or things may not happen as fast as you want them too, but if you continue to smile, keep moving foward and be confident you too can go in any direction you want to. Remember...there are many ways to market yourself. Get creative and enjoy the ride you your own deserving success. ![]() Loving all that is....this life, OM Shanti, Sara |
