Default Thank you

Since stumbling across your website and forum via Yoga Journal, I have learned so much. Thank you. I've redesigned my website and started promoting myself in a more positive way. It definitely pays off. The mindset is the key factor. And as Harlan has said before, this works in every business. My husband has taken a few of the ideas and applied them to our "other" business of eyecare and it has proven profitable. Why discount your knowledge?

I look forward to more information about researching how to open a studio. Plus, finding the balance between classes and privates. I find travelling to a private is expensive, in terms of the time it takes to get there. So if you are providing a 1 hour private, how do you compensate for the time travelling to and from a client? I'm tracking miles and I know you can pay yourself for the mileage but it still seems a little lacking.

Thanks again and I will be thinking of Harlan in the Keys~ I'm so jealous!!!!

Hi and thanks for joining us.

We are only getting started. We haven't really touched Internet marketing
yet. We will.

We will also discuss in depth opening a studio and how not to open a studio.

Most studios don't last more than a year.

We'll show you why.

I'll let Sara answer the question about travel time and privates.

But the way she keeps raising her prices, I don't think it's a question.

Namaste!

Harlan

Hi Lynne,

Please tell us about your studio. How many square feet etc.

And now the hard parts:

1. What is your monthly "nut"? How much do you have to make?

2. What is your competition?

3. How many clients have to walk in the door for you to break even?

4. What has to happen for you to be taking money home from the business?

5. What are you doing to bring clients in the door?

Peace.

Harlan

Default lynne carrolls yoga studio

I don't know how many square feet my space is, but I can accomodate 12 ppl easily into each of my 5 classes a week. I am in a contract with the girl who runs the karate dojo 50/50. I need 40 ppl signed up a month to be making some $$. I have no competition close to me on the west side of cincinnati and that is 1 of my selling pts. "yoga on the west side of town."
I am going around the neighborhood w/ monthly flyer specials such as "come in for your free yoga class." "try yoga for stress relief" etc. I also am using craigs list and have gotten some calls and 1 student so far. I also listed my website on other free yoga sites. I have 8ppl signed on so far. I get approx 2ppl into the studio a week for their "free" class. thanks for the questions to answer. Welcome to Lynne Carrolls yoga studio how can I help my website? shanti, Lynne

Hi Lynne

Don't take this the wrong way, but I didn't find your website very 'grabbing'. I am sure you love yoga, you need to let people know when they stumble onto your site why yoga is so 'lovable', what it can do for them. Grab their attention. A few pictures may liven things up a bit too.

I'm going to agree with Marleen. You need to work on your site.

Study the websites of yoga studios in your area.

And begin to think of what you want your website to look like.

Peace.

Default Spice it up!

Hi Lynne,

I too checked out your website the other night and it did not intice me to stay on your page for more that 30 sec. I think that when ever we get feedback it is a way for us to grow.

I was not motivated to stay on your site. I think it is terrific that you have opened up a studio and are pursuing your love in life. A big Salute to you for your fearlessness.

Your website is a representation of you and what you are offering the community. Be bold and let your website stand out. Yes---include some picutes and colors and do a bit of research. You want your website to speak to people in a creative way. It is your silent way of advertising.

Go online and check out other studio websites for some ideas and ask for input from your friends. Have fun in recreating your site. Good Luck. Let us see your 2nd try!

Have a fantastic day.
Many Blessings,
Sara.
