Alot of people are eager to get this person's name. I think it would be wrong to do so without informing the instructor and giving him a chance to defend himself on the forum... and that probably isn't going to happen.
I really think it is irrelevant who it is simply because whoever he is, he is NOT the only one out there doing this sort of thing. It is up to us as Yoga instructors, and attendees of workshops to address issues AS THEY ARISE and in response to our own personal experiences. That is what Harlan did. What would you do with this guy's name if you knew it? Would you merely avoid his workshops? Would you encourage others to avoid them as well? And on what authority could you legitimately do that? I don't really think you NEED warning Harlan, as you are obviously a thoughtful, rational and prudent man, but please tread lightly. The rest of you, please think about what you are asking Harlan to do before you make further requests for info. The rest of us should encourage our students to honor themselves set their boundaries and stick to them. That way they will not fall prey to such behavior. It is out there as much in yoga as anywhere. Please check out Donna Farhi's book "Teaching Yoga" she addresses this subject beautifully. |

Thanks Christine.
Donna's book is must reading. In America, you can be sued for even thinking bad about someone. I have no intention on letting this distract me from my goals. I strongly recommend Joel Kramer's The Guru Papers for more about this issue. And once again, Donna's book is must reading. Peace.
