Hi
This is a message for Sara regarding the yoga journal conference. I will be going to the conference in Boston this May. It is my 1st conference and I am looking forward to experiencing some of the leading teachers and styles. I am torn though because they are running a full day intensive business course that I could use, and at the same time I want to do a full day intensive with one of the teachers (same day). I cant decide what to do. I have trained with and experienced only one teacher so I really want to broaden my experience. At the same time I will be looking to move my business to a new location in the near future and could use some of the material covered in the business forum. What would you recommend on this round? Thanks. Valerie |

do the business thing on Friday and then go to the main conference in the weekend. I've just done the San Fransisco conference and LOVED it!
Especially if you've only ever had one teacher, going to the main conference will let you study with up to 6 different teachers. I loved getting the diversity of all their different approaches. Go for it! |

When Marleen came over to say hello, I thought she was moving in to the conference!
She had every conceivable yoga prop imaginable with her! I don't know how you carried that bag around the whole day! Great to meet you. Harlan

I did Restorative Yoga with Judith Lasater on Sunday afternoon and we were supposed to bring blocks, a bolster, a strap, a mat, an eye pillow and as many blankets as we could carry.
Dragging the bag around wasn't fun, but I have seldom felt as good in my life as after that class! It was pure bliss. I really recommend it! |

Dear Valerie,
Hi there. Sorry it has taken me a while to get back to you. I went to my first conference about 2 years ago and it was a great experience. Since then I have been to about 4 or 5. I have gotten to get a taste of many teachers I like but haven't have the time to study with. Some of these conferences can get pretty packed, so that can be good and sometimes you feel like sardines jammed in a room. However, you will have fun and I it is a good way to make new connections in the yoga world. I suggest that you go to a teachers intensitive for the day. I is a great way to spend a few hours studying with a teacher you have not yet been with. When I have done these I have enjoyed them very much. Use this first conference to try and taste all the different styles and teachers. In regards to the business aspect, consider signing up for our paid newsletter. It could be of great help in your business and there is a ton of information on our site if you search around. Let me know how it goes and who you take from. Have fun peace, Sara. |

Hi Sara,
Thanks for your info. I hope to meet you at the conference! Ive already decided on a teacher intensive (Sean Corn) instead of the business seminar. I am also thinking of signing on for your newsletter. The medical intensives on Monday also look great so Im trying to decide which one to do (Viniyoga/Lymphatic sessions?). I will let you know. Thanks again. Valerie |
